My ISP ie. Cable Provider - Hawaii Road Runner

Road Runner Bandwidth Test

My ISP is killing me with the bandwidth, literally through gaming online...  I'm paying for Turbo Plus/Plus, this package is suppose to have 15mb down & 1mb up, it was great at first as I'm able to connect 2 XBOX 360s, 6 of 8 PCs and a PS3 solidly online but as of 2 months ago I started having bandwidth/modem crashes/digital phone issues and just recently stale connection rates...

*Mike, continue reading for the links, thanks for comming bro!...

June08 I was called and told I had an "Open Proxy Spam"... well, I figured there was a PC infected so I got word that I had to rid the infected pc of connection and with that I off-lined the PC in question...  Long story short, it was the start of my connection issues, I no longer have my ISP email account as I'm guessing they blocked my IP frm accessing any SMTP accounts through hawaii.rr.com...

July08 I notified hawaii.rr.com of my bandwidth issues they in turn send techs to switch my modem out and do tests through-out my area...  *2 rr technicians show up and they immediately assessed my issues, to their knowledge there was no way I was suppposed to have 15mb download as they've never heard of such speed aquired by any customer they've serviced... I insisted for them to do a connection test and they were able to hit 13mb down consistently but never 14-15...  I assured them that I had a solid 15 on non-peek hrs and 13-14 on peek and they laughed at me...  ha ha ha my ass, I showed them my network interface, ISP Modem to a Linksys Optimizer to a gigabit router to 3 gigabit switchs by way of CAT6 cables... One of the techs immediately said, Cat6?...  I said yah, I don't run Cat5e I run Cat 6 and all my pcs have gigabit Nics including 2 of my Monster PCs which both use Dual Net connections by way of 2 Gigabit Nics combined on both PCs...  they simply couldn't believe my setup, I told them to switch the modems and see if I get a fresh signal and then test the connection...  as soon as the tech switched the modem out, established my connection, tested my line, he couldn't believe the connection rate I had, with all the hardware I had connected on it I hit a SOLID 15 Download speed...  he saw it with his own eyes and couldn't believe it... Now I know all my hardware wouldn't get a solid 15 down as collisions are sure to happen due to the dif architecture of each hardware and than the digital phone PLUS the tv cable... the 2 XBOX 360s are on almost 16hrs a day (wifee & kids play COD4 on XBOX live) and it's why I got the upgrade in bandwidth back in April... frm a 10 down to 15 down but I'm starting to think I'm paying extra and that I know my ISP can proivde it but I've been capped by residential-community connections.

Aug08, I'm just fed up with it now, can't seem to get any kind of solid connection for any of my hardware any more, it's not just my pcs now, it's the digital phone, my cable connection and my online connection... My ISP has told me that they're working on my area, running tests and monitoring for performance loss & gains but I'm stuck with paying for connection just isn't near what it's worth!  Totally disatifisfied with my current condition, not necessarily the ISP as I know I've had better days with my connection!... I'm sure my neighbors are happy cause somewhere in this connection ring somebodies getting a solid boost by way of my connection!

Sep08, so today I decided to call my ISP and whine about my obvious lack off... lol, and I get a hold of GAMER Technician!, how cool is that?... Mike is his name, really cool Tech that knows the network infrastructure and it's architecture...  he runs some checks on my modem, does some real time evaluation of my network and BLAM, I'm back to square one... lol... basically, information that I'd already knew but a conclusion to my questions...

My ISP topology consists of a ring (star or token), we're all sharing the same connection less the signal, my ISP shoots that signal to my modem allowing me access to it's feature ie. Turbo Plus BUT, I'm still in the star/token ring cycle meaning if there's traffic I'm in that line too...  It sucks, but I understand the process therefore I'm stuck with paying more for less if that makes any kind of sense... lol...

MIKE, I really appreciate you comming, here are the links of the gaming clan sites I've built.  These were all hand coded, I don't use applications/softwares to make my pages so it's unique in it's structure...  again, shoot me your email @ hitman@hoghitman.com...

*This BLOG reflects my thoughts, not necessarily an expression to discredit my ISP but the services in my current area...  OK, wk#10, my connection continues to worsten, not by much jsut enough to cause headaches... else I wouldn't be here making online entries which is a process in itself!...

Widget my call it?...

Movie Website

So I'm all into Widgets (top right of page), it's sort of my shortcut on the latest info of what I'm into... or what I've been interested in lately, I use to have a SoCal Sports Widget under my Widget area but got rid of it cause I'm not feelin it right now...  Sports huh?, Just heard about former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight champion Evan Tanner was found dead near Palo Verde, Calif. on Monday, Evan was doing a soul searching adventure off into the desert of So. California.  He was only 37, man I just watched a movie that closely resembles this poor dudes fate, "Into the Wild"...

W   A   R   N   I   N   G   !   :   MOVIE SPOILER!

Emile Hirsch (based on Christopher Johnson McCandless true life) stars as this over educated but mildly mature college grad that goes through life with his own set of rules, inpsired to just do what he feels is his ultimate destiny to satisfy his beliefs.... long story short, he ventures/voyages to Alaska for the ultimate adventure, to live off the land and play GOD to himself...  IMO, this dude is nuts!, who in God's right mind would do such a thing?... well, RIP Evan Tanner, you did what this dude did and I'm sry things didn't go your way...  He blogged that he was not out to do what everybody feared as "Into the Wild" adventure, he even blogged that if his gear isn't stable he'll be facing some serious problems... outcome couldn't be more of a prediction as he was found dead due to the heat near his motorcycle which police said ran out of gas... Shit is just depressing to think of what could of been going through his mind att...  Me, I couldn't last one night alone away from the ones I love, it's just not in my heart to leave those who love me behind, I want to go before they do....

Final thoughts, *Widgets-Sports-Evan Tanner-Emile Hirsch-Chris McCandless-My own intentions ties together in more than just one blog post, it's the common thought of information that can be available when requested by the author, I started with Widget to unify accessible data which referred to my ridding of the Sports Widget which lead to Evan Tanner's fate that similarily reflects the movie "Into the Wild" based on a true story of Chris M. and in closing my thoughts of why I wouldn't go "into the Wild" mode,...  the end.
